Yeah, it’s a rip-off of “Peanut Butter and Jelly Time,” but this ice cream/cake/dance commercial from Baskin Robbins is pretty fun. I love it. My two-year old nephews love it. Ice cream cake, shouting and dancing plastic toys bring families together.

Jordan bought this adorable assortment of doughnuts at Tastease on New Park Avenue in Hartford last Friday and she spent so much time photographing them, I’m not sure if she actually ever got around to eating any. They’re a bit too pretty to eat anyway.
For the holidays!

I like my coffee spillage on the kitchen counter. I can’t decide if it looks more like a scary skull or a deranged kitty.

I just know it.
If I had any money, I’d invest in a purple tomato farm.

This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.

Jordan, Mikey and I are completely obsessed with the never-ending fluctuations in the price of limes.
I stopped by Apple Tree on New Park Avenue in Hartford tonight and, people–the time is right to buy, buy, BUY!

And then invite me over for gin & tonics.
Note to Apple Tree customers: the tomatoes and red peppers were terrible (although, who knows what tomorrow brings…).
The fish was, as always, very good. I bought clams and shrimp and made an impromptu spicy seafood stew/broth for dinner which we ate on the porch.

Can anyone recommend a good restaurant in New Haven besides Zinc? I know it’s supposed to be great, but their menu looks boring. I’ve been researching a bit online and nothing is really piquing my curiosity.
I did find weekend dim sum though at Formosa in North Haven, but I’m looking for a nice and luxuriant Thursday night meal. Maybe something French?
Thanks to Scary Bunny #4 for sending me “pissed off pancake bunny” below.

Yeahhhh!

Jon is also responsible for the pomegranate-flavored Crunk!!! herbal energy drink, which is largely available in the South and the Florida panhandle, a handful of Midwest states and California.
But while Crunk!!! is “bold pride, ridiculous parties and endless energy,” according to the beverage’s website, Little Jonathan Winery is “not no ghetto Boone’s Farm,” Jon said. “This is real wine.”

Rumor has it that Churrascaria Braza, the meat lover’s paradise, on Farmington Avenue is going to close its doors in the next few months.
I have to admit, I don’t really care apart from not wanting to see the building empty. I’ve never eaten there and am completely turned off by the whole “all the meat you can eat” vibe.
On the plus side, renovations on the former site of the Roo Bar next door seem to be moving along quickly. When I last spoke to one of the owners the intent was to open a bar/restaurant with a mediterranean flair. I believe tapas were mentioned.
In related news: Barça Restaurant & Tapas Bar is now open in The Design Center in Parkville. It also features tapas and other spanish dishes and is open for sunday brunch.
I like tapas fine. I’m okay with the concept being all the rage in Hartford right now–except, of course, at TAPAS which specializes in Greek food. People really do hop on bandwagons though rather than trying to do something unique and forward-thinking.
Why can’t anyone open up a freaking French restaurant/bistro? I’m dying for some snails.
