I saw this posted to the “barter” section of Hartford’s Craigslist yesterday afternoon, but the guy’s wife must have seen it too because it was taken down later last night.

I just noticed that my Tivo added SNY, the NY Mets television network, this morning in time for the first game this afternoon against the Florida Marlins. The Mets have been blocked from Hartford for a few years, excepting the occasional game on Saturday afternoons.
When I saw the addition to the lineup, I immediately thought it was a cruel joke, yet another one perpetuated on any of us unlucky sort who have saddled our lives with the affliction of being Mets fans.
It seems to be working, I’m watching it right now. With my luck, I’ll get all the Mets news shows and the actual games will be blacked out. You know Mets fans, we’re told we “have to believe,” but we’ve been burned so many times in so many ways, it’s impossible.

It’s that time of the year–the Subway Series match-up between the Yankees and the Mets begins tonight at Shea.
It’s become unusually special for us since we moved to Hartford since it’s the only time of the season that we can guarantee we’ll be able to see the Mets game on television. Screw Comcast, screw Mets television SportsNet-Network-New York-Sports or whatever it’s called, and screw your damn blackout zones.
Besides the usual broo-ha-ha that comes with a New York interleague game, there’s a bit of controversy over who “owns” Metallica’s Enter Sandman as a walk-on/entrance song–Yankees closer Mariano Rivera or the Mets’ new-closer-on-the-block Billy Wagner.
It’s not like they’re ever going to need to use it in the same game together, and like Rivera, Wagner’s used it for years and won’t give it up–to the rage of Yankee fans. Which we encourage whenever possible.
